Booking an airport transfer from Lancashire: what to have ready
The flight is booked. Now there is the small matter of getting everyone, and all their bags, to the airport. A few details at the booking stage make that part much easier to arrange.
Start with the address where you will be waiting
For a pickup in Colne, Nelson, Burnley or elsewhere in Lancashire, use the full collection address. A town name gives a general area; the house number, hotel or workplace tells us where your journey actually starts.
If there are two entrances, a gate or an awkward place to stop, add a short note. Something as simple as ‘meet at the hotel reception entrance’ is more helpful than leaving the driver to work it out on arrival.
Choose a pickup time that works backwards from the flight
Your flight departure time is not the time you need to reach the airport. Check your airline’s advice for check-in and bag drop, then allow for the drive from your address. Traffic, roadworks and weather can affect the journey, so avoid planning around the fastest possible trip.
For a very early flight, check the date carefully. A pickup just before midnight may be on the evening before the date printed on your flight confirmation. Read the date and time together before completing the booking.
Count the bags as well as the people
Four passengers do not always mean a saloon is the right choice. Four large holiday cases, hand luggage and a pushchair can need more room than the seats alone suggest.
Enter everyone travelling, including children, and the luggage you expect to take. Compare the capacities shown with the vehicle options. If you are bringing an unusual item or need a child seat, tell us before travel and check the arrangement with us if you are unsure.
Give the return journey its own details
For an airport collection home, use the flight you will arrive on. Check the airport, terminal where known and landing date. The return flight number is usually different from the one taking you away.
If you are landing after an overnight flight, the arrival date can also be different from the date you left. Use the date of arrival for the collection, and provide a mobile number you can answer once you land.
Check the booking before paying
Look over the pickup address, destination, dates, times, passengers, luggage and vehicle. With Terminal Link, the fare is shown before payment, and an online booking is confirmed once payment succeeds.
After booking, you can use My Bookings with the same email address to view your journey. If something needs changing, submit a request and check its status: the existing booking stays in place until the change is approved.
